 What is an SME according to the EC definition?
An SME is defined as an enterprise with :
- less than 250 employees
- an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million Euro or a balance sheet not exceeding 43 million Euro
- and being either
- an autonomous enterprise totally indepent or less than 25% share
- a partner enterprise holds 25 - 50% share in another enterprise and/or
another holds 25 - 50% in yours
- a linked enterprise holds more than 50% of the shareholders’ or members’
voting rights in another enterprise and/or another holds more than 50% in yours
